Very true. As with most things, people refuse to accept that they are not always the best judge of their own work. I use the 'squint test'. If you go to a category and squint your eyes, your book should match right in.

One caveat though is the importance of the 'sameness' of a cover does vary a little bit by genre. I think it works better for fiction than non-fiction as well.
