ChatGPT has been receiving a ton of interest lately, and for good reason. The software can produce some stunning text (not this!) and answer questions so thoroughly and completely that it has some educators concerned.
ChatGPT is an end-user solution that sits on top of the gpt-3 AI engine from OpenAI.
Now OpenAI is ready to release gpt-4.
According to OpenAI, “GPT-4 can solve difficult problems with greater accuracy, thanks to its broader general knowledge and problem-solving abilities.”
“GPT-4 is more creative and collaborative than ever before. It can generate, edit, and iterate with users on creative and technical writing tasks, such as composing songs, writing screenplays, or learning a user’s writing style.”
Also, “GPT-4 can accept images as inputs and generate captions, classifications, and analyses.”
And finally, “GPT-4 is capable of handling over 25,000 words of text, allowing for use cases like long form content creation, extended conversations, and document search and analysis.”
That all sounds pretty incredible.
For software developers like myself, the exciting thing is the announcement of a new API for developers to incorporate gpt-4 into our own software.
We are preparing to roll out gpt-powered AI features in Zonmaster, and of course, I will be doing a series of videos for using OpenAI with a Ruby on Rails interface.
